Gingerbread Workshop-At the Nickel Plate Station

Ice and decorate a gingerbread house to display for the holidays. All ages are welcome with a caregiver.

Little Elves’ Workshop: Peppermint Bath Salts Christmas Gift

Would you like to come have some fun and make a Christmas gift for someone special? If the answer is yes, then this workshop is for you! First, we will have story time and talk about how salt and water interact. Next, you will make your very own jar of bath salts by measuring, mixing, and pouring! After your bath salts gift is done, you will be able to make a salted watercolor Christmas card to go with your gift. All materials will be provided for you to make a jar of peppermint bath salts and a Christmas card. You will also be able to take home your very own mini bag of bath salts to try out during your next bath time!

Grades: Kindergarten-5

Elves’ Workshop: Bath Salts Christmas Gifts

Would you like to come have some fun and make Christmas gifts for someone special? If the answer is yes, then this workshop is for you!    During this workshop you will be able to make two jars of bath salts to give as gifts. Choose from a fun variety of scents and colors, and make and pour your very own salts! After your bath salts gifts are done, you will have time to make salted watercolor Christmas cards to go with your gifts. All materials will be provided for you to make two jars of bath salts and gift tags.

Recommended for Grades: 6-8

Date: December 12 from 2-3:30 pm

Holiday Wreath Workshop

Meet Ms. Jean in the Discovery Garden Greenhouse to create your own holiday wreath with natural materials.

Put on your fanciest party clothes and join us for a New Year’s party complete with crafts and a balloon drop at noon.

Winter Storybook Program

Come be inspired by our new Arctic Exhibit to write your own winter-themed picture book! Learn how to include illustrations to enhance your writing and create a captivating book to share with your friends and family. All supplies will be provided for you to leave with your very own book – written and illustrated by you! This can also be a great opportunity to get a head-start on your Young Authors’ book.

Grades: 3-5

Into the Arctic! Preschool Playgroup-At the Nickel Plate Station

Join us for a 6-week session of joyful learning in our seasonal exhibit, Into the Arctic! Weekly themes in this session include: Arctic animals, the Northern Lights, and snow. Preschool playgroup is designed to build social skills while participating in fun, educational activities.

Everyday Art

Meet us in ECM’s Art Studio for a fun open-ended art experience. New projects are available every month and are specifically designed with exploratory learning in mind.

Build a Habitat for your Stuffie-At the Nickel Plate Station

What do animals need to survive in their habitats? Bring a few of your favorite stuffies to ECM and use your imagination to create a habitat. Children will learn about what their animals need to survive: food, water, shelter, and space. *Drop-off program, ages 5+.

Registration Policies:

Registrations close one week prior to the program date or when the program is sold out.

Registration forms can be submitted online (e-mail to, mailed or dropped off.

Children may register for programs only within their age level.

Museum Members receive a discount on program fees as indicated.

Children three years old and under must be accompanied by an adult.

Complete one registration form per child.

In order to secure registration, please submit a legible contact/registration form.


Complete payment is required within 72 hours of registration.

Registration is not complete until payment is received.

Credit cards, cash and checks are accepted in house; online payments are required for online registration.

Cancellations and Transfers:

A refund will be issued if your cancellation is received no later than two weeks prior to the first day of the program in which you are registered.

Participants may not make up or receive a refund for missed programs.

We reserve the right to cancel a program due to low enrollment (full refund will be issued).

When possible, we allow a program participant to transfer to a different program as long as there are openings and the participant is the appropriate age. Two weeks notice is required.
